And ants happen to look a lot like spiders, BUT! watching this documentary was absolutely worth it. I was previously unaware that:
- some ants tend and grow fungus gardens
- some ants herd domesticated aphids and mealybugs (making humans and ants the only creatures that have domesticated livestock)
- ants communicate via invisible chemical trail
- ants can raid freaking BEEHIVES!
- ants can carry 100 times their weight while walking upside-down on GLASS!
- the ant males' sole purpose in life is reproduction
- some anthills are essentially the insect equivalent of the Great Wall of China
- and TONS more!
